If Pokolbin is the Hunter Valley's spiritual centre, Lovedale is its vibrant and innovative frontier – albeit a decidedly laid back and rustic one. Artists, winemakers, chefs and mavericks rub shoulders in a landscape where Aussie bush meets European picture postcard. We'll take the backroads on our return to Pokolbin, passing some of the hidden gems of the Hunter Valley.

Dan was born in Vanuatu and is one of the young guns of the Valley, starting his own label while still in his 20s.
"I don't think people realise how unique Lovedale is and why it's such a great area for white wine. So I love sharing that type of stuff with them. Showing how the mountains and the soil and the climate all interact.""But I especially like taking them to the types of places I want my winery to be like one day. The places I find inspiring. And there's quite a few interesting little galleries and eating places along the way. It's a bit more down to earth in Lovedale. And there's lots of great characters to meet there too."
